IGAD Foreign Service Institute Develops Curriculum in Collaboration with Sister Institutions
December 12, 2022 (Addis Ababa, Ethiopia): The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) through its IGAD Foreign Service Institute (IFS) held a Curriculum Development Validation Workshop on December 12, 13 and 14 in Addis Ababa.
The three-day workshop aimed at enhancing relevant contributions to the networked cooperation with IGAD member countries’ diplomatic institutions and provide support to institutional capacity building. The objective of this validation workshop was to assess the Curriculum Development Program report and get feedback of its findings from participants.
The workshop brought together Directors of Diplomatic Academies, focal points, national experts in Education and representatives from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of IGAD Member States to enrich, review and validate findings of the Curriculum Development document.
At the opening of the workshop, Lead Trainer Professor Carlos Gonzalez Carrasco lauded participants’ active participation and inputs to the document report. He further declared that with the cooperation of IGAD Diplomatic Academies, the IGAD FSI can fulfil its mandate to the fullest and bring the curriculum development programme into life.
The three-day training provided an opportunity for the participants to discuss about the five postgraduate programs that were developed by the IGAD FSI in diplomacy, crisis management, business management in a global environment, peace and security and regional integration and economic development.
As the workshop concluded on December 14, the IGAD FSI introduced its online hub of training resources and its digital platform. The hub was created to contain information, lectures, methodologies and research for member states. The digital platform will serve as a space that will allow diplomats from the region to exchange and convene on issues of regional interest.
Before winding up three days of intensive and fruitful learning and knowledge, the participants visited the Institute of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia.
This workshop was conducted with the financial support from the European Union through the European Union Trust Fund (EUTF) through the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) under the IPPSHAR Programme.
